Tip "Uninsured Driving or Insured"
16.) "Grace Periods" (Part II).

How can forgetting to renew your drivers license promptly
really cost you more in car insurance? Very easily!
Unofficially and depending on your specific state's laws, you may have up to six (6) months after the expiration date to renew your drivers license without
having to again retake and complete the entire drivers license test-taking process.
Note though, having this "grace period" to renew you license is just that. Your drivers license
is expired and you
should NOT drive during
any period of between the expiration date and your renewal date. Why? Any sort of traffic pullover by police may lead to, at the very least, one ticket and maybe
more. One ticket for the reason why you were pulled over in the first place and another ticket for
driving with an expired license (even if it expired yesterday
and you were enroute to the DMV to renew it when you were stopped).
The problem regarding your vehicle insurance is... now you have one or more traffic citations which will be factored into your next renewal premiums. Can you say HIGHER RATES, as
a driving with an expired license is a major "no-no" for car insurance. Save the grief. Save the cash. Just renew when you are prompted.
